Phuket budgets are neighbourhood budgets, not island averages

A single Phuket average hides the decision that matters most: where on the island you will actually live. Beach areas, Phuket Town and inland residential neighbourhoods have different rent, food and transport patterns. Compare complete routines for two or three areas rather than chasing the lowest room advert anywhere on the island. Build each comparison with rent, deposit, electricity terms, water, internet, groceries, cooked food, transport and the cost of reaching the places you value. Visit during the day and evening. Check construction noise, drainage after rain, mobile signal and how far the nearest sensibly priced food really is. Long-stay prices should be confirmed directly with the property and written into the agreement. Ask whether the quoted price changes by season, whether cleaning is compulsory, and whether electricity is direct from PEA or resold. Never send a deposit for a room you have not verified.
